Tommy Emmanuel is widely regarded as one of the greatest acoustic guitarists alive. Born in Muswellbrook, New South Wales, Australia in 1955, he began performing professionally at age six. His extraordinary fingerstyle technique — playing melody, bass, chords, and percussion simultaneously on a single guitar — is unmatched in the guitar world. Mentored by his idol Chet Atkins, Emmanuel became one of only five people Atkins ever named a Certified Guitar Player (CGP). He has won a Grammy Award, performed at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics for over 2 billion viewers, and headlined venues from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. His 2025 album Living in the Light — recorded in just four days — is described as the most daring and rewarding collection of his remarkable career. MusicRadar named him the best acoustic guitarist in the world in 2019.
