Rastacoustic

Rastacoustic is an Appalachian reggae group combining roots, dub, and rock. The band’s eclectic influences range from the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina to the Blue Mountains of Jamaica, creating a one-of-a-kind musical experience. Rastacoustic’s well-seasoned musicians include Peter Brown (keys, vocals), Justin Butler (guitar, vocals), Shawn Roberts (drums, vocals), and Kevin Freeman (bass), who have performed all across America, Canada, and Japan.
Rastacoustic’s Mission – We perform and tour to provide people with a safe place to let loose and be themselves in a positive environment of love and unity. We perform to bring musical diversity and provide a style of music that doesn’t regularly come through the region.
A charismatic ensemble, the band plays a mix of upbeat positive originals, reggae classics (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, etc.), and familiar covers ranging from Grateful Dead and Beastie Boys to The Beatles and Cypress Hill. Every show is one drop, hip-hop, and rock-steady fun filled with uplifting vibes.
Rastacoustic has been featured on PBS’s North Carolina Weekend, Valle Crucis Summer Concert Series, the Jones House Summer Concert Series (downtown Boone, NC), Historic Morganton Festival, Music on Main Concert Series (Sparta, NC), and the Caldwell Arts Council 34th Annual Sculpture Festival (Lenoir, NC).
